An Unfair Fight for Renewable Energies by: Arnold Shwarzenegger

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/an-unfair-fight-for-renewable-energies/2011/12/02/gIQA9lWrTO_story.html?tid=pm_pop
Picture: This picure shows the sun which creates a huge amount of energy. More energy from the sun hit the earth in one hour then the whole world uses in a year.
Summary:
This article is about how renewable resources and the people studing them are treated unfairly. It disscusses how the oil industry recieves alot more government spending money than rewnewable resources. It is unbelievable how federal support for development of new energy sources is lower today than any other time in U.S. History. In order for there to be true competion in the energy market the government must equaly fund all types of energy. If this was to happen then renewable energies would be right in there withh all other types of energy. In California they have done this with the states money and one fourth of all solor energy jobs are located in California.
Reflection:
I can not believe that in the time that we most desperatley need new energy sources, the government is using the least amount of money on them. I agree with Arnold that if the government would equally distribute its money for energy then there would be equal competion. I think that if renewable energy is already compeating and doing well then, with a couple more hundred million dollars then they would be doing unbelievable.
Questions:
1) If you were running for Presitend in 2012 would this be one of your main focuses?
2) Is there anything else you beleive the government should be doing to help renewable energy?
3) In how many years do you think we will be using solely renewable energy sources?

  1. Question 1 : yes this would deffinetally be one of my main focuses because its amazing on how much money could be spent to finding renewable resources such as ones like the sun, but what really amazed me was the fact that trapping the suns energy for an hour is enough to power the whole world in a year thats amazing

  2. Question 2: I think that the government should put solar panels on all houses to captured all of the suns enegry. I know it is expense but in the long run, we will gain all that much back. This we also help our environment, and reduce the amount of pollution, because we would be burning as much fossil fuels. Hopefully in the future, we won't be burning anymore fossil fuels, and will only be using renewable energy, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric.

  3. This is really horrible. The renewable recources study should get a lot more funding and attention. It is a critical key to our future. The government should focus more on renwable recources because soon we will run out of oil and coal, and we will be stuck. I agree with Arnold and the government should focus more o wind and solar energy.

Question 3. I think that the next big thing is a new renewable recource. With the technology and minds we have today we should come up with one with 20 years, and no later than 40.

  4. I agree with Matt on the fact that our government is spending money on other non-important concepts when were in a time that we need these desperately. The non-renewable energy sources, such as oil and coal, are not unlimited. We will one day run out of them. If we base our money that is set aside for energy to renewable researches, we could maybe come up with an alternative plan that splits the funds in half. Also if Arnold says it, it has to be true.

    Question 1:

If I ran for "presitend" in 2012, I would focus mainly on this, but there is other things in the world that would be my main topics. We have time before we even come close to running out, and plus, after two terms, Another president will come and ruin it like usual
