Summary: In Argentina fossils have been found of small 8-9 inches long mammals. Scientists say that these fossils of these small animals were alive when the dinosuars we around. These scientist say that these little mammals have long sharp teeth much like a saber-tooth. The mammals look like the squirel in ice age with the long teeth that always looked so award. Because the animals are so small there fossils are extremely hard to find, and these sighting are presious to these south american scientists. To find this fossils paleontalogists litterally have to roll around in the dirt to find them because of their size.
Opinion/Reflection: I think that this is really cool that we have found other prehistoric animals other than dinosaurs. My cousin always tell he wants to be a paleontologist and if found something like this would so cool and i could see why he would want to look for these interesting fossils.

This is really cool because now it gives a look of new species that existed. This animal looks a lot like the saber toothed tiger, so maybe it was a early form of it, and this evolved into a saber toothed tiger. This discovery also gives us a new idea on the diet of other dinosaurs because this animal looks like it would have been eaten a lot.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 3- If I found a fossil like this I would do the same as if I found a T-Rex. I would give this to a museum, because any prehistoric disocvery is just as important as a discovery of a new dinosaur.
I think that this is amazing. It is unbelievable how we are still discovering new things on our planet. It would be very hard to find these fossils. I would imagine that most of the time they dig and nothing is found or they find something they are not looking for. I believe that this would be a very interesting career. It would be because you are out doing something and it is possible that you could discover something that has not been seen yet by humans.

Yes, I do find this topic very interesting because the squirrel is considered to be at the bottom of the food chain and now wondering if it had a sabber tooth think how much better it would survive.
